Duo Privacy Policy

Duo is built around consent, provenance, and local-first evidence. This policy explains how Duo handles approved source evidence, including Duo Browser Evidence from the Chrome extension and web app.

Effective date: May 5, 2026

What Duo Browser Evidence Collects

Duo Browser Evidence captures only the user-approved page URL, title, and excerpt that you choose to send to Duo. The capture is saved as source evidence with the read_only_browser_evidence boundary so it can be reviewed before it is used in Duo Brain.

Depending on the capture path you use, Duo may also store a timestamp, content hash, screenshot reference, source surface, and allowlist decision so the evidence remains traceable.

Chrome Extension Data Categories

Chrome may describe Duo Browser Evidence as collecting Website content and Web history. In Duo, that means the active page address, title, and excerpt you explicitly approve from the page you are viewing.

Duo does not click, type, submit forms, read cookies, collect passwords, collect credentials, access checkout sessions, or run background browsing automation through Browser Evidence.

How Duo Uses Evidence

Duo uses approved evidence to help you create reviewable source notes, summarize context with local models when available, and link outputs back to their source URL and excerpt. Browser Evidence is not treated as proof that Duo browsed a site for you.

If local summarization is unavailable, Duo can create a deterministic draft from the fields you approved. Duo does not use cloud summarization as a fallback for Browser Evidence.

What Duo Does Not Do

  • Duo does not sell user data.
  • Duo does not transfer Browser Evidence for unrelated advertising or profiling.
  • Duo does not use Browser Evidence for creditworthiness, lending, employment, or insurance decisions.
  • Duo does not collect cookies, session tokens, full browsing sessions, or hidden page data through Browser Evidence.

Storage, Review, And Deletion

Browser Evidence is stored in Duo as review-required source evidence. You can inspect the saved title, URL, excerpt, boundary, and provenance before using it elsewhere in Duo.
